The Kimchi Project - Have you met Charlie?

The Kimchi Project - Have you met Charlie?

The Kimchi Project is located on central Auckland's Lorne St and home to the Thea Matcha latte!

When Thea was just starting out we reached out to the power couple, owners Ben and Kyung who added Matcha to the menu and have been with us ever since! We are so grateful and feel supported by such a great eatery that is one of the first places to really make great Asian fusion food.

Check out their instagram to see all the goodness they serve!

The regulars know that this is a great place to relax and enjoy great food in a beautiful atmosphere. There's plenty of space for a group of people and I love to chill there when I have Thea work to do too (say hi if you're ever around and see  me - M)

Charlie is always smiling and has great style and a welcoming friendly aura. His matcha lattes are one of the best we have had and he truly cares about creating a great latte for you! We also love the filter he makes and he's so skilled with latte art!

We asked Charlie, the head barista, a few questions

What's your favourite Matcha drink?

My go to drink is Iced Matcha with soy milk. It's bloody good!

What's an interesting fact about you?

I was on the Te Karekare Māori news haha. Tu Meke! (it means awesome or good job in Te Reo)

How did you get started as a barista?

I started working at a cafe in South korea. It's become a trend nowadays to meet friends ina  cafe and it's a big part of culture in South Korea. I love coffee and other drinks so much. I love coffee and other drinks so much. One day, I thought it would be cool to work at a cafe so I can try all kinds of drinks haha.

Thank you to June for being a trooper with this photoshoot as well! You're lovely

Our love to Kimchi Project for being part of the Thea family. The people we meet from having Thea in our lives truly makes us grateful for the connections and communities we can build together.

If you want to join the family send us an email at hello@theaorganics.co.nz or slide into the DMs, there's only the two of us so we'll be sure to see it :) !
