Matcha Iced Tea
Light, refreshing iced tea, but make it matcha.
It is rich, balanced yet sharp. The lighter and more mellow the higher quality the matcha is. Our matcha selection is unique to our the region and blend of tea leaves. Generally speaking it has a sweet, earthy aroma and tang. Poor quality Matcha will taste bitter and be close to yellow tones as opposed to those with deeper green tones.
We have done countless hours of tastings and research to find matcha that tastes great and is a good quality. We work with our tea masters to find out more about our matcha flavours and where it is coming from. We make sure we don't tell you something is a high quality if it isn't, which was what we had experienced before we started Thea ourselves. Think of your favourite wine or coffee, why do you choose this over others? Try our matcha and taste what we believe is delicious matcha.
Generally, 1g per drink so 50gs means 50 servings. If you like your matcha strong, it's probably 2g so 50gs means 25 servings. Here's a tip for tea drinkers - if you leave your tea to settle, you can top up hot water to mix in with the Matcha, giving you an extra cup (or two) to drink!
Premium is our everyday green caffeine. It's more affordable, a little more bitter but this also makes it better for lattes and baking. It is still great as tea if you don't mind a sharper matcha flavour.
Ceremonial or First Harvest/Superior grades are for serious tea drinkers, best serves as tea, just with water. These leaves are limited in quantity and can be seen as the 'champagne' of teas. It is better for those who prefer a lighter but more complex flavour.
To know this, you have to try them both. But, to save you some time and money.. let's say if you prefer a deeper and richer matcha choose one from Kyoto. If you prefer a light and sweeter matcha, choose Mie. See our blog about matcha for more information
When you have green tea leaves, you are only steeping the leaves and won't be able to benefit from all the nutrients it has to offer (unless you eat it!). Matcha powder is the entire leaf grounded into a fine powder. It has antioxidants that are great to fight free radicals, an amino acid called l'theanine that has calming properties and caffeine to keep you alert for your day. A super green tea!
While 1/2 tspn - 1 tspn is all you need to get the benefits of Matcha, there is only so much your body can absorb. One to two servings of Matcha per day is reasonable. But remember, keep everything in moderation.
Keep in a cool, dry spot, sealed in an airtight container that you can recycle or reuse. We have resealable pouches and tins to help you keep your matcha fresher for longer.

It's great caffeine choice, especially if you cannot drink coffee as your 'wake me up'. Because it naturally has l'theanine (an amino acid) and caffeine combined, this negates the side effects you may get from coffee. Read our blog to learn a bit more about Why Drink Matcha?
